17 september 2019, day 44: Carda (Villaviciosa) - Peon, 15 km (827 km)

Today, I am only going to walk a short distance because I want to sleep tonight in a very special pilgrim's hostel. Pilgrims sleep in a horreo, an old wooden storage room for corn on stone pilars.
This morning started with spontaneous guitar music during breakfast.

I first visit the church in Villaviciosa where I get a stamp in my pilgrim's pass. Than I go to a traditional Spanish bakery to buy bread. (Thanks to Montse for the tip)

The route is not very special today, but people here take good care of pilgrims:

Then follows a very long and very steep climb onto the Alto de la Cruz. It seems to go on for ever.

Unfortunately it is not possible to make good pictures of the view.
Soon after the climb I reach the Albergue where I can sit in the shade till it opens.

This is a very special Albergue. You can see the horrea (old corn storage) with the beds in it on the pictures above.
