This week Professor Conny walked 134 kilometres from Beyries to Espelette. She has now completed a quarter of her 1200 km walk for Chromosome 6. The weather this week was mainly cloudy and rainy, but it got better at the end…
Professor Conny left Beyries on a very cloudy day. Luckily there was no rain as she walked through a forest with encouraging quotes for life.

The following day was very rainy and the paths extremely muddy and slippery. Professor Conny had to climb up and down a couple of very steep paths. During one of the descents, she slipped. Luckily she did not hurt herself and was able to continue her walk for Chromosome 6, but was now covered in mud. She was happy when she reached the pilgrims’ inn that evening and was able to take a shower.

The following day, Professor Conny posed with a statue of a pilgrim. Along the way there were several pieces of art and statues. It was still cloudy, but the weather was improving…

That evening Professor Conny was welcomed by a large group of pilgrims at the inn and the innkeeper even started singing. The next morning she started her walk with the lyrics of the pilgrim songs in her head. The route this day followed very narrow paths through the valley, and there were multiple short climbs and descents. The weather was very sunny, especially when Professor Conny reached her final stop for the day: Saint-Jean-Pied-de-Port.
After two weeks of walking she had her first day of rest, a chance to do laundry and visit the city.

The rest did Professor Conny good. When she started walking again the paths became even narrower and more adventurous, with lots of climbs and descents. Professor Conny enjoys walking the winding challenging paths through rough nature.
